Great experiences await at Heber Valley Railroad all year long! (Perhaps you’ve also heard of their North Pole Express train ride at Christmas time?) And among all the different fall and Halloween activities in Utah, the Halloween train rides at HVRR make for a truly unique experience for kids, families, friends, and couples alike.
In this article, we’re going to discuss the TWO different Halloween trains that Heber Valley Railroad offers annually in October.

Train #1: The Halloween Train
The 90-minute round trip Halloween Train excursion entails a costumed ride in one of their standard historic coaches (don’t forget to dress up!). Passengers will be entertained by characters in costumes, including roaming zombies and the one…the only: Sanderson Sisters witches!
Admission includes a delectable pumpkin cookie treat during the ride and a pumpkin of your choosing picked straight from their pumpkin patch.
This ride is recommended for couples or families with older kids.
Halloween Train Schedule
The train departs at 7:00 pm sharp on select dates (Mondays and Thursdays) in October.
- Monday Nights: October 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, 2022
- Thursday Nights: October 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th, 2022
Remember to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure, as their trains always depart on time!
Halloween Train Tickets
The Halloween Train ticket price is $30.00 for General Admission (ages 3 years and up). Children 2 and under do not need a ticket to ride the Halloween Train.
As many of their trains sell out, we recommend buying your tickets in advance, either online at their website or by calling them directly.

Train #2: The Pumpkin Train
The 40-minute train round-trip Pumpkin Train ride is more appropriate for families with younger kids. During this Halloween fun ride, you will be entertained by HVRR staff and served a delicious pumpkin cookie. You will also get to choose some pumpkins from their Pumpkin Patch to take home with you!
Pumpkin Train Schedule
The train departure times are at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:30 pm, and 5:00 pm sharp on Saturdays in October.
- Saturdays: October 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th, 2022

Pumpkin Train Tickets
The Pumpkin Train ticket price is $15.00 for General Admission (ages 2 years and up). Children under 2 are free to ride on a lap.

Things to Know Before You Go
- The Halloween trains have assigned seating, so if you want to sit by another party who purchased tickets on a separate order, call the Railroad to let them know about your desired seating arrangement at least 24 hours before your departure time.
- You may eat on the train – purchase snacks in the gift shop prior to boarding.
- Due to the historic nature of the rail cars, wheelchair access is not available. Please call ahead for additional information.
- Dogs, alcohol, car seats, and strollers are not allowed on the train.
- Restrooms are available on the train.
- Change orders for ticket purchases may be subject to a $5 surcharge
- With at least 48 hours notice, there is a cancellation fee of 20% per order, No refund will be given with less than 48 hours notification.
