Step into a Story at the Treehouse Museum in Ogden! This storybook-themed children’s museum was named after the giant tree that grows at the center of the Museum, which branches off to many themed galleries and activity rooms. Treehouse Museum is located just south of the Ogden Utah Temple and just north of the Fat Cats. It is a 40-minute drive from downtown Salt Lake City.

Treehouse Children’s Museum Attractions

Treehouse Museum is a great place for your kids’ imagination to run wild! There is a variety of themed galleries at the Treehouse Museum; there is sure to be something to pique your child’s interest and there are endless opportunities for them to have fun!

The Science Circus room has fun physics-based activities, including Air Tubes, the Laser Table, the Subaru Gravity Race Track, and more. Kids can make their own art at the Art Garden. Visit the Barn room and ride one of their hand-carved horses in the Rodeo Arena. The World Village is always an adventure with houses representing different countries, as well as some really big world maps! And finally, if you need a moment of quiet, take a breather in the beautiful Walk in the Woods gallery.

There are also daily family programs that are included with admission.

For example, every afternoon you and your kids can participate in a children’s book-based art activity in the Art Garden. Your kids may also have the opportunity to join the Treehouse Museum staff to help retell favorite fairy and folk tales in the museum’s famous ParticiPlays or PaticipatoryStories. 

In addition, every Saturday, families may participate in STEM activities that promote an excitement for science, technology, engineering, and math. Participants get the opportunity to play a magical numbers game, explore light and color, or build a tower – to name a few.

If you haven’t caught on by now, the Treehouse Museum takes literacy very seriously and they truly hope to instill a love of reading and storytelling in their young visitors.

Ticketed Events

On Track to Reading – Perfect for preschoolers and for helping parents ensure that their little ones are ready for the start of kindergarten, every Monday you can join Treehouse staff for songs and stories in the Storybook Theater. Included is a fun art project in the Art Garden. The cost is $5 per person (free for Treehouse members).

Friday Family Frolic – On the final Friday of each month, families are invited to join Treehouse children’s museum staff in building things like bridges, catapults, and towers; solving puzzles and riddles; or making and playing musical instruments together. The cost is $5 per person (free for Treehouse members).

Treehouse Troupe – introduce your children to the magic of live theater through the Treehouse Troupe, a team of talented professional actors. These theatrical productions present delightful, original retellings of traditional fairy and folk tales in the Treehouse Simmons Storybook Theater, and are perfect for kids ages 3+. Things to Know Before You Go

  • During the summer, Treehouse offers two timed admission blocks Tuesday through Saturday: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m. To maximize your admission, you’ll want to show up at the beginning of the block, as you will have to leave by the end of the block time.  
  • Children are required to be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older at all times. Teens and adults without children cannot attend on their own.
  • One-time events, free days, and classes must be reserved under Special Event Tickets.
  • Treehouse offers discounted and free admissions during the summer months in partnership with Blue Star Museums for Military families, National Treasury Employee Union, and the Weber County RAMP Free Summer Saturday program.

Membership

If you think your family will be a regular museum-goer to Treehouse, consider getting a membership. The benefits of their membership program include free regular admission, free admission to most special events, special members-only times and events, discounts on birthday parties and rentals, and a discount on purchases at the Welcome Desk.

They have four levels of memberships, each covering different sized families, and start at $80.00 for one year. A Treehouse membership will typically pay for itself in just 4 visits.

Birthday Parties

For your kid’s next birthday party, the Treehouse Museum is fit for a king or queen! The birthday boy or girl will be crowned the Treehouse King or Queen and will sit in the royal throne. They can be accompanied by a royal party of 12 guests (plus 5 adults).

Here’s what’s included with a party booking:

  • Two hour admission from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, or from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturdays
  • Admission for up to 13 children and up to 5 adults
  • Time to open gifts and refreshments in the Royal Party Room
  • Each child receives a royal goblet as a party favor and the birthday child receives a crown
  • Time to explore the museum
  • A Treehouse Party Host to help with room cleaning and use, to conduct the royal activity if the child is 4 or older, and to make announcements to help gather your party guests.
  • Paper products (plates, cups, napkins, utensils) and a pitcher of water

The Cost of a Royal Party is $160, and Treehouse Members get a $35 discount.

Things to Know Before You Book

  • Party bookings are only available on Saturdays
  • Individual cupcakes or take home treat bags are recommended
  • Balloons, piñatas, or lit candles are not permitted
  • Party guests must be supervised at all times by the adults within the group
  • The Royal Party Room is limited to 18 total occupants

Summer Workshops

If you’ve got kids between the ages of 7 and 14, Treehouse offers fantastic summer workshops for hands-on learning. For example, in 2022 they offered 2 theater workshops, a film making workshop, a science workshop, and an art workshop. 

All workshops run for 2 or 3 hours on 4 consecutive mornings, and cost of materials are included. (Treehouse Members receive 50% off!)

Field Trips and School Assemblies

For you teachers out there, Treehouse children’s museum is happy to host classes on field trips, or even come to your school for a super fun assembly!

For field trips, trained Treehouse staff provide high-quality storytelling, art, and theater experiences throughout a two-hour tour of the museum. Their field trip tours are very educational and compliment classroom lessons. They offer a discounted admission of only $5 per child (adults are free) to public, charter, and private schools, preschools, Home School groups and Head Start organizations. For school assemblies, Treehouse Museum has programs designed for Preschool, Kindergarten, and for the first, second, and third grades. Their interactive assembly programs help children Step into a Story through stories, plays, art projects, and music. The cost is $400 for a school visit.
